• Stagecoach has beaten an in-house management team to win the battle for SBG subsidiary Fife Scottish (CM 11-17 July).
A judge at a judicial review last week said the bosses' bid could not be considered because it was received after the closure date for offers.
The company's team of bidders is bitter about the decision: "We cannot reconcile.., the Government's avowed intention to encourage and give genuine preference to employee bids," it says, adding that its offer was "clearly superior to that of Stagecoach".
