AS EXPECTED, the Greater I don Council has suspended plan for a lorry ban in a' square mile area of North Ld don (CM, July 4).
GLC transport commit chairman Dave Wetzel said week: "The ban would h been pleasant for people Ii in the suburbs it protected, b threw up problems in nai bouring areas. We are not fied that the views of th people were energetica sought or adequately con ered before the ban was proved."
While the Council is c mitted to reducing heavy I traffic in London, it fears that• scheme would simply hal, moved the problem from 1) area to another.
