Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the latest addition to this fleet has an unladen weight of 35cwt. I know that dieselpowered vehicles over 30cwt unladen must be plated and tested but does this also apply to electric vehicles ?

A No, it is not necessary to have electric vehicles over 30ewt unladen plated and tested in the same way as dieselor petrol-engined vehicles.

Exemption from this requirement for electric vehicles is contained in paragraph 10 of Schedule 2 of the Goods Vehicles (Plating and Testing) Regulations 1971.

Electric vehicles are not exempt, however, from the testing requirement which applies •to private cars under the Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1968, though this applies three years after first use.
