Dr Charles Alexander, the ierdeen transport pioneer, t forward the plan. The 2urity measures he suggests !.lude warehouses, a central itchtower dominating the e, closed-circuit television anners, and surrounding the perimeter a strong wire fence with tank-trap-type sunken area to prevent any vehicle being driven away.

Dr Alexander said the centre would be ideal for offloading heavy lorries from the south and the delivery of their goods within the city by smaller vehicles. At the same time, smaller loads could be collected at the centre and made up into bulk for .shipment south.

Councillor A. J. Rennie, chairman of the committee, said the project would obviate the need for big articulated lorries from the south to enter the city. The committee agreed there was a need for such a lorry park. They gave the plan their blessing while recognising it was for the planners to pronounce on the siting.
