The -United Yeast Go., Ltd., of Manchester, which undertaking at the present time owns three Albion vans, has placed an additional order with that well-known Glasgow company.

Messrs. Gould Bros., of Exeter, have put into service a 25 h.p. Darracy, with a smart van body of special design, to run between hxeter and Budleigh Salterton, to link up with other mail services.

About Commers.

The attention of all parties interested in goods transport is particularly directed to the Contents of the latest Commer-Car catalogue, as this 80-page book is arranged upon lines which are most informative. The matter is not crowded, whilst tables of running costs, subject to adjustment for the present high price of petroleum spirit, are complete in all respects.

The illustrations cover both individual vehicles and fleets, and the Last-named class of service is well represented by Lever Bros., Ltd., of Port Sunlight, which company owns no fewer than 26 six-ton Conner Cars.

The First Horseless City.

Indianapolis, which, as every schoolboy knows, is located in the U.S.A., has decided to father the first horseless city in the world. Every manufacturer who intends doing business in Speedway, as this enterprising city will be known, will find a clause in his agreements and contracts which will provide that all haulage must be done by motorvans. The grocer, the butcher and the baker will find a similar provision in their deeds and contracts, and the fire department, will be wholly equipped with motor-driven appliances. Breakers of the law will he taken to gaol in rnotorvans, the streets will be swept with motor-sweepers, and the rubbish collected and carried away by motor trucks. The main business of the town will be the manufacture of motors and motor accessories of all kinds, and when in full swing it is stated that thousands of men will be employed in these industries. Men will be stationed at the entrances to the town, whose duty will be to turn back and refuse admittance to horse-drawn vehicles. Acton Refutes Wimbledon.

At a recent meeting of the Acton Highways Committee a statement was brought forward in connection with the working of a motor tractor hired from Pickfords, Ltd., for the purpose of trying its utility for refuse collection. From this statement, it appears that a saving of 2321 per annum could be effected on their present small horse carts, but with larger ones the saving could be increased to £480_ The

annual charges for running a motor tractor, including wages of driver and a man to help, were estimated to be about 2420 per annum,

High-Mileage Guarantee.

In connection with a tender recently made to the Westminster City Council for solid tires, the Peter Union Tyre Co., Ltd., has given a guarantee of 15,000 miles. It is interesting to note that Peter Unions are very largely used by the N.E.R. Co.
