1 (DAF) concern, of Eindhoven, Holland, announces that over 1962 its home market share rose from 34 to 37 per cent in the case of goods vehicles, reaching nearly 50 per cent in the coach chassis field. However, total 1962 profit of the company is expected to be lower than that for the previous year, the rise in
sales and productivity not being enough to compensate for the very sharp increase in production costs; due to sharp competition, no vehicle price increase was possible.
The firm, which views the new year with "a certain optimism ", increased exports to fellow-EEC member countries by 17 per cent over 1961. Exports to non-European countries fell slightly.
