Mr. A. Kelly, chief designer, has been appointed to the board of J. Bamford (Excavators) Ltd. Mr. E. R. Dawtrey has been appointed technical sales manager of Automotive Engineering Ltd. and Light Production Ltd., two companies in the Sheepbridge Engineering Group. As chief engineer he has been responsible for research and development; he will now concentrate on the piston ring and cylinder liner activities. Mr. E. A. Cooke takes over Mr. Dawtrey's position as chief engineer of Sheepbridge Engineering Ltd. As head of the centralized engineering and development organization his responsibilities will embrace both product and production development.

Mr. J. L. Holden has been appointed service superintendent of Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. He succeeds Mr. J. Little, who has joined C.V. (Sales and Repairs) Ltd., Cardiff. Mr. Holden was an Atkinson apprentice and, at 23, was the company's youngest-ever foreman—in the service department. Since 1956 he has been a director of Blackburn Haulage (Lanes) Ltd., Preston. Mr. D. Cooney continues as senior foreman in the service department.

Mr. J. Delicate, general transport manager of Courtaulds Ltd., has been appointed a member of the special panel of four set up under the Transport Act, 1962, to advise the Transport Tribunal. He is the nominee of the Ministry of Transport to the panel and is the only representative of industrial transport. Mr. Delicate is a national vice-chairman of the Traders Road Transport Association; vice-chairman of the T.R.T.A.'s West Midland division; and chairman of the Coventry area.

Bowmaker Ltd. has appointed Mr. S. F. Thomas as manager of the Leeds branch, Mr. D. W. Butler manager of the Doncaster branch, Mr. T. C. Payne manager of the Sheffield branch, Mr. R. K. Patterson manager of the Worcester branch, Mr. F. J. Fletcher manager of the Taunton branch, Mr. G. F. Makey manager of the Wrexham branch, Mr. K. H. Moores manager of the Truro branch and Mr. A. G. Matthews acting manager at the Crawley branch. Mr. B. D. Meddings has been promoted from assistant manager to manager of the Bradford branch.

Mr. A. I. Barton has been appointed sales d:rector of Dispatch Motor Co. Ltd. Mr. A. N. Davies has been appointed deputy manag:ng director of All Wheel Drive Ltd., of Camberley. Mr. Davies has been a director of All Wheel Drive since December, 1954, and general manager of the company since the beginning of 1962.

Mr. John Roy, sales manager, and Mr. R. C. Pulley, have been appointed directors of Champion Sparking Plug Co. (Ireland) Ltd.

Mr. R. G. Redgwell, managing director of the Wayne Tank and Pump Co. Ltd. has been elected chairman of the Southern Regional Committee of the Industrial Training Council in succession to Mr. A. F. Hetherington.

Suffolk Iron Foundry (1920) Ltd. has appointed Mr. E. J. Porter as technical representative for the Birmingham and Midlands areas.

Herr Rolf Breuning and Dipl.-Kfm Giinter Nawrath have been elected to the board of directors of the Cassel, West

Morrey, previously a representative at Wolverhampton, has been appointed branch manager at Coventry and Mr. A. J. Obituary

WE regret to record the deaths of Mr. VY D. G. L. John and Mr. J. Rothwell. Mr. John was Birmingham and Midlands representative of Bonallack and Sons Ltd,, and died last week after along lness.

Mr. Rothwell, formerly a director of J. and G. Rothwell Ltd., Accrington haulage contractor, and also of James Atkinson and Sons (Blackburn) Ltd., was 55.
