Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW economy device for petrol

eggines is being distributed by Fuel Conservation, Ltd., 132-4 Fleet Street. London, E.C.4. It consists of a grooved ring which is introduced between the inlet manifold and the carburetter. The internal diameter of the ring is slightly less than that at the lower end of the choke tube, so that a proportion of the ingoing charge is trapped in the annular space.

Holes drilled in the bottom of the groove allow any surplus fuel to pass through in an atomized state into the manifold, Connected to the annular space in the ring are two tubes, which are led away to points on the manifold. close up to the inlet valves.

The theory is that the cold atomized fuel trapped by the ring—estimated at 10 per cent. of the quantity passing to the engine at any given time—meets the heated vapour which has passed on its normal way over the hot-spot of the induction system—at the point where it is about to enter the cylinder.

Immediately the lower-temperature . fuel meets the hot mixture it vaporizes, expands and produces a turbulent effect. In addition to the claim that economy in fuel is effected, the " G " unit is said to improve the power output and flexibility of the engine
