IN his report on the reorganization of Ithe Johannesburg municipal-transport system, Mr. L. M. Barry, the manager, suggests that on one route the motorbuses should be replaced by trolleybuses at an estimated cost of £00,000. He estimates that 22 trolleybuses would be required.

CHILDREN'S FARES FIXED IN EASTERN AREA.

CONDITIONS relating to children's k.-fares have been fixed by the Eastern Traffic Commissioners. Children under three years of age shall be carried free, provided that they do not occupy seats. Half fare to the nearest jd. above shall be charged to children between three and 14 years of age, in the case of adult fares from 1d. to 6d., whilst the half rate shall be calculated to the nearest 1d. above in the case of adult fares over 6d. These rates shall also apply to schoolchildren between the ages of 14 and 16 years.

Birkenhead Corporation is to substitute buses for trams on. the Docks route.

LONDON TRANSPORT TO BORROW £10,000,000.

DOWERS to borrow a further sumn I not exceeding £10,000,000, in addition to borrowing authorized under the London Passenger Transport Act, 1933, are being sought by London Transport in the present session of

Parliament. The Bill under which these powers are being secured provides for the replacement of tramways by trolleybus services on 19 routes in London, Middlesex and Essex.
