Adonis backs FTA carbon scheme

LORD ADONIS, THE Secretary of State for Transport, has backed the Freight Transport Association's (ETA) Logistics Carbon-Reduction Scheme (LCRS). which aims to find a universal method for operators to report, measure and reduce carbon emissions.

In a letter to the ETA confirming the Department for Transport's (I)fT) support, Adonis acknowledges the need to cut carbon emissions from logistics as a key part of the Dff's Carbon-Reduction Strategy,

VIA climate-change manager Rachael Dillon says: "We are grateful to the Dir for recognising the importance of the LCRS."

The LCRS already has the backing of some of the PTA's leading members, but is open to all operators of commercial vehicles. Interested companies can email rdilloncipfta.en.uk for more information.
