This latest version has the potential .A to Lift 1/W's sates figures well above its rivals with high levels of build quality, practicality and price. The previous-generation Transporter was blighted by its unrefined and noisy PD engines, which always seemed at odds with the rest of the package. However, with the new range of common-rail 2.0-litre diesels, the 15 feels the complete package that certainly issues a wake-up call to the likes of Ford, Mercedes and Vauxhall.
This particular model isn't Likely to attract the fleet buyer's attention, mainly because of its price, the extra trimmings and running costs. White fuel consumption rivals the lower output models (even bettering the previous generation 130P5 version, mind), it's stilt too extravagant for today's conscientious fleet manager. But don't dismiss it altogether because this is a van that has enough grunt to frighten many passenger cars (even with payload on board) and it's a van that you can take to church on Sunday and the building site on Monday.
