• Around 600 workers including a number of drivers have lost their jobs following the sale of Booker Wholesale Foods to distribution wholesaler Palmer & Harvey McLane.
The company's trucks form part of the deal, which could be worth £4.4m depending on how much stock is bought. Booker will incur an exceptional loss of about £23m due to the sale.
BWE's Haydock, North ampton and Bristol Regional Distribution centres will close.
Booker chief executive Stuart Rose says the sale will allow the company to concentrate on its core cash-and-carry operations, and the areas of the business where profitability can be improved.
• The sale of Booker Foodservice, which runs the MoD catering contract for the armed forces, is still in progress.
