You truckers, what a fickle lot you are! First it was Denise Van Otrten and Princess Anne and now ft's the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Mo Mowlam. You Just can't decide who you want for a trucker's mate.
It seems that the minister first set your hearts a flutter on a recent appearance on Michael Parkinson's chat show on BBC1.
What swung it for you lot was when she let slip that she has a soft spot for Geordie truck drivers. Since when, according to the RHA, its switchboard has been jammed with requests for Mo's autographed photo.
One fan explains her mystique: "I think she's a very warm person. You can see her behind the counter of a greasy spoon. Mo looks like a trucker's babe should. We love her."
