Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WHERE a machine toe is belt Vif driven, and the centres are short, leather. veetbelts form a ready solution. With flat leather belts a certain minimum distance between the driving and driven members is essential if slip is.to be prevented without unduly tensioning the belt.

The Benson Vee Leather Co., Ltd., Longside Lane, Bradford, Yorks, makes a speciality of leather vee-belts

which may be 4upplied in endless form, or in _lengths to be cut and joined as required. The endless belts differ from the usual rubber-fabric type in that-they are not moulded, but joined up, either by a simple form of metallic fastener or by the use of a special waterproof plastic.

An endless moulded belt offers an obvious disadvantage in that either the 'machine pulleys must overhang or, as in the case -of a lathe mandrel, the latter must be dismantled in order to get the belt in position.. Benson vee-leather belts are stocked in endless form in the following sections :-1i ins. by 1 in. ; 1i ins, by in. ; in. by t in. ; 21432 in. by /76 in. ; ..in. by -Pg ; and in. by 7-32 in. The normal included angles of the belts' faces are 28 degrees and 40 degrees, but belts having special face angles can be supplied.
