Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

POLICE ARE WARNING drivers not to use selftesting breathalysers to gauge whether or not they are safe to get behind the wheel this Christmas after research showed most of them to be completely unreliable. The results reveal that HGV drivers relying on 'licence-saving' devices bought for only a few pounds online or at petrol stations could in fact be putting lives at risk.

More than half the DIY breathalysers tested indicated that a driver was safe to drive despite being legally over the drink-drive limit. Even worse, none of the devices gave a reading that matched that of West Yorkshire Police's Home Office-approved breathalyser.

Inspector Russell Clark says: "Many people may think it's a good idea to buy one of these for a loved one, but this could be the very article that harms them.

"It encourages people to drink to the max, when anyone who's going out mustn't be thinking about driving at all."

The research was carried out by Parker's Car Price Guide.
