Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Commercial Motor takes road haulage very seriously. However, once a week our quirky correspondent, the Hawk, steps off his perch to take a humorous look at the industry to keep us all sane. If you have any offbeat yarns that illustrate the stranger, or sillier, side of the business, he'd like to hear from you. As a soft-hearted old bird, he's also happy to publicise charitable works—and is always interested in events for the vintage vehicles he drove as a fledgling. Drop the Hawk a line at Commercial Motor, Bird's Eye View, Rm H203, Quadrant House, The Quadrant, Sutton, Surrey SM2 SAS, or fax him on 0181 652 8969.

Once again the Hawk and his very good friends in the industry bring you a Christmas competition in which you can win a veritable Aladdin's cave of desirable prizes. And just by entering you help to support a very worthwhile charity, Action For Sick Children.

o! Ho! Ho! Yes folks, when you hear the sound of those sleigh-bells ringing, you know the time is fast approaching for that great annual festivity; the Hawk's Christmas charity bonanza. Once again the Hawk's great mates in the industry have come up trumps by donating a veritable jamboree of top-quality goodies for prizes, enabling Commercial Motor to support a nominated charity. To digress for a moment: As the Hawk's own festive preparations got under way he has to report that Foden the dog disgraced himself in rather an unseemly tussle with the Christmas tree as the Hawk was fetching it down from the loft. You could say that he got hold of the wrong end of the (artificial) stick and wouldn't let go. However as it is the season of goodwill the Hawk soon forgave him and later Foden redeemed himself by licking the gum for the paper chains that were to criss-cross the ceiling in their humble yet cosy Yuletide abode. With all the chores complete, the intrepid duo are looking forward to tucking in to their Christmas nosh; a very traditional turkey with chipolatas and all the trimmings. Bon appetit!

Back to the competition. This year Commercial Motor is only too delighted to be supporting the charity Action for Sick Children. ASC is recognised as the leading organisation for the welfare of sick children by health professionals. It is dedicated to improving standards and quality of child health services at home, in the hospital and in the community. The charity supports and advises parents through the period of their children's illness. ASC was founded in 1961 when it was common practice to ban parents from being with their children in hospital. Today there is a network of 33 branches throughout the UK.

Parents also have access to an extensive reference library which contains more than 7,000 articles and books on various aspects of childhood illnesses. The organisation also campaigns for financial help with hos pital visiting for families on a low income. ASC has achieved a great deal in 36 years, but there is still much to be done. For instance there are still children being treated in adult wards where there are no children's nurses on duty. So by entering this competition you will be making a valuable contribution to the charity and improving the lot of sick children throughout the country. A truly worthy cause I'm sure you'll agree!
