driver who could not afford conventional tracel hitchhiked thousands of miles from Spain to Falkirk in central Scotland to face a charge of careless driving. After the journey Jose Navarro received a fine of £150 at Falkirk Sheriff Court and had five penalty points added to his licence for previously causing a road accident in Beness, Scotland.
Navarro, with just £60 in his pocket, had presented himself the evening before his court appearance at Falkirk police station where police constables found Navarro a £10 bed and breakfast hotel to stay for the night.
