F. E. Weatherill, Ltd., Welwyn Garden City, Herts. The new shovels are known as the L.60, the L.62 and the L.64 having bucket capacities of 1+ cu. yd., 1+ cu. yd. and 2 Cu. yd. respectively.

The largest model is powered by a Rootes TS3 oil engine driving the two axles through a power-operated gearbox giving four speeds forward or reverse and a speed range of 0-24 m.p.h. in each direction. The transmission incorporates a torque converter. -A similar transmission layout is used for the L.62 which has an 85 b.h.p. Ruston and Hornsby air-cooled engine whilst the smallest model has a 62 b.h.p. Ford power unit. All three shovels have power-assisted rear-wheel steering and can be fitted with a comprehensive range of ancillary equipment.

Process Bath Sealer ACHEMICAL heat and vapour seal for hot processing baths is available ,from the Pyrene Co., Ltd., Metal finishing Division, 1Brentford, Middlesex. The treatment consists of Heat-Lok Sealant which forms a " blanket " on the surface of the bath and Heat-Lok Additive which is contained in the processing solution and is a surface activating agent.

The additive is replenished in direct proportion to the amount of chemical required to maintain the concentration of the processing solution whilst the sealant is used as needed to sustain a +-in.-thick blanket on the surface of the bath.

Use of the treatment is said almost to eliminate surface evaporation and reduce the warming-up time and heating costs by minimizing heat losses. Fumes and corrosive elements are kept within the bath. Heat-Lok has no adverse effect on the coating characteristics of the processing solution.

Current Law.

AREVISED edition of "Road Transport Law" (Tliffe, 13s. 6d.) is now available. It has been brought up to date by the inclusion of the alterations resulting from the abolition or reduction in purchase tax on motor vehicles contained in the Finance Act, 1959. Other changes concern the Conditions of Fitness Regulations, with corresponding enlargement of the chapters dealing with conditions of fitness and use of vehicles.

As in previous editions, the relevant Acts, Orders or Regulations are listed at the beginning of each section. In addition, the new edition details other Acts and Regulations which concern the operation of motor vehicles. The map of the traffic areas has been clarified.

It would, however, appear more logical, as well as helpful to the uninitiated. if the definitions given under the heading "Vehicle Classification" were transferred from the end to the beginning of the book, because constant reference must be made to such terms as "heavy motor cars" or "light locomotives" in studying the Acts and Regulations.

Wire Rope Terminals TERMINALS which can be attached 1 to wire ropes by unskilled labour without need for heating or degreasing arc offered by the Tulloch Construction Co., 'Ltd., 8 Laurence Pountney Hill, London, E.C.4. Each terminal consists of a sleeve, a grooved and tapered pin and a terminal head.

As the terminal head is screwed on to the sleeve, the wire strands are relaid above the pin. An inspection hole in the terminal makes it possible to see whether the joint is sound.

effect in the event of oil failure. Two types of Hi-Moly are available: No. I for the sump and No. 2 for the gearbox, steering box and rear axle. Both cost 12s. 6d.
