DESPITE POSTING A 35% rise in pre-tax proit for the year ended 31 December 2010, Foulger Transport says it has had to work extremely hard to basically stand still.

The Snetterton, Norfolk-based irm grew pre-tax proit from £450,663 to £609,630 and increased turnover 16% from £11.9m to £13.8m last year.

“We’re in our 75th year of operation; it’s always been a can-do business,” says group operations manager Simon Lee. “Like everyone else we experienced some bad debts that we had to take on the chin, but the team has worked very hard to win new customers.

“Looking after our existing long-term customers and continuing to provide the service they have come to expect has also helped us remain proitable.” Foulger picked up some new business in late 2009 so 2010 was the irst full calen dar year of that business, which helped the irm grow during 2010, says Lee.

Foulger operates a 100-strong leet and has 350,000ft2 of warehousing. It also runs 10 recovery vehicles.
