Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DHL TRADETEAM HAS lost the retender for its primary logistics partner contract with Stella Artois and Beck’s brewer AB InBev UK to a combination of KN Drinks Logistics (KNDL), Downton and Hoyer.

CM understands that drink distribution in the UK will be split between KNDL and Downton, with the former responsible for the north and the latter for the south, while Hoyer’s Foodlog division will handle domestic bulk beer distribution.

An InBev UK spokeswoman conirms: “Following a scheduled tender review process, InBev UK has awarded its UK primary transport operations to KNDL, Downton and Hoyer.” The service will move from current UK suppliers Tradeteam over the next two months. The spokeswoman adds: “Our primary focus is to continue our high standard of customer service during this transition period; we do not foresee any disruption of service to our customers.

“We would like to thank Tradeteam for their standard of service and contribution to our business.” Tradeteam was appointed primary logistics partner in March 2010 after InBev axed its in-house operations. Hoyer began work on its contract on Monday (15 August) operating from InBev’s Magor, Monmouthshire, Salmesbury, Lancashire, and Mortlake, south-west London breweries.

KNDL and Downton were unavailable for comment as CM went to press.
