The timetable for introducing the new generation of tachographs depends on many factors but, if all goes to plan, it could go as follows: 2011: European Parliament begins scrutinising EC proposals to revise tachograph legislation 2012: adoption of the new regulations 2013: technical specifications developed, allowing manufacturers to prepare for commercial production 2017: new tachograph launched on the market 2018: driver cards merged with driving licences
