PICKETS AT DaimlerChrysler's European logistics centre at Milton Keynes were attempting to disrupt deliveries of components from Germany in a dispute over pay as CM went to press.
More than 200 warehouse and distribution workers took strike action in protest over the company's three-year pay offer which equates Lo 15% in year one followed by inflation minus 1% in the following two years. DaimlerChrysler also wants to end paid tea and lunch breaks.
John Street, regional industrial organiser for the Transport and General Workers Union, says a vote was carried in favour of industrial action and the start of a work to rule from 1July.
He concludes: "We think that this action will cause disruption as the pickets will stop the vehicles carrying components coming in from Germany."
