A past chairman of the Scottish area, he runs a long-established family business in the Paisley, Barrhead, Renfrew area with 21 buses on stage services. Mr Robertson joined Devon General Omnibus and Touring Co Ltd, in 1963, moving to Eastern National in 1969 as traffic assistant.

Richard Hewlett has resigned his position with Vauxhall main dealer Wallace Arnold Sales Service Ltd, Leeds, to become fleet sales manager of Ford main dealer, Service Garage (Barnsley) Ltd, Dodworth Road, Barnsley.

Robert G. Brook has been appointed general manager of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co Ltd, an NBC subsidiary. He has also been appointed chief general manager of that company, the City of Oxford Motor Services and the Potteries Motor Traction Co Ltd. Peter H. Wyke becomes chief general manager in the north-western division of NBC's Western Region. John S. Madgett is now traffic manager of Eastern Counties Omnibus Co Ltd in succession to W. H. Jelpke.

Following the addition of Dennis Brothers Ltd, of Guildford, to the specialist vehicle division of the London-based Hestair Ltd, a number of senior appointments have been made. The division also includes Yorkshire Vehicles Ltd, of Leeds, and Eagle Engineering Co Ltd, of Warwick. Howard Stringer, a director of Yorkshire Vehicles, has been appointed general manager of that company. John Jeavons-Fellows, who was previously with PA Management Consultants Ltd, becomes general manger of Eagle Engineering. T. W. Dodd has been appointed a director and general manager and E. Bottomley becomes technical director of Dennis Brothers, Previously Mr Dodd was a director of Yorkshire Vehicles and Eagle Engineering, being also general manager of the latter company, while Mr Bottomley was technical manager for Yorkshire Vehicles and Eagle Engineering, Harry Cox has been appointed area staff manager. Eastern area, BRS Parcels Ltd. He was outstationed staff officer, responsible for the North Western and Midland areas.

Wilfred Gannicliffe has been appointed traffic manager of the Belfast Co-operative Wholesale Society's transport group.

B. J. F. Evitt has become General Motors power and industrial division automotive product sales manager, responsible for the sales of Detroit Diesel engines, Allison transmissions and GM Bedford engines in onhighway applications.

L J. Mackey, of Adequate Weighers Ltd, is the newly elected chairman of the Mechanical Handling Engineers' Association's associate members group. He succeeds F. T. Stanford (Renold Ltd). G. Sowerby (BTF1 Industries Ltd) has been re-elected vicechairman of the group.

George Rothman is now managing director of KL Automotive Products Ltd. Son of the late managing director of the company, he succeeds John Fisher who continues on the board as commercial director.

David Hedges, who joined Edmunds Walker Ltd in 1951, has been appointed a national accounts executive. W. F. Maxwel who has been with AES since 1946 becomes northern regional sales manager. The new regional manager for the North West is K. Lawrence, previously a branch manager in Hendon.

Allan Rawlings, 30, has been appointed sales manager of E. M. Wilcox's tail-lift division, he was formerly the Peterborough company's area sales manager for the eastern counties and Ireland.

OBITUARIES We regret to record the deaths of Henry Carmichael, Ivan M. Smith and W. C. Turner. Mr Carmichael, 63, was chairman and managing director of Carmichael and Sons (Worcester) Ltd, the bodybuilding firm founded by his father and uncle which he joined in 1926 as an apprentice.

Mr Smith. who died on August 11, aged 62, following a road accident in London, was finance officer of the National Bus Company since 1969.

Mr Turner, who founded the removals firm of W. C. Turner Ltd, Leicester, in 1929, died at his Evington home aged 66. He was managing director for many years until the business was acquired by Pickfords Removals Ltd in 1966.
