• Increases in some London bus fares recently approved by the GLC will be introduced from Sunday, September 10, London Transport announced last week. Fares for 85 per cent of journeys are unchanged.

On crew-operated buses the 74p, 124p and 17-ip fares will each be rounded up to the next new penny. Other fares in the graduated scale, including the 3p minimum, will be unchanged. On split-entrance one-man-operated buses the 7p, 12p and 17p fares, which were reduced by ip last year, will go up by lp to bring them into line.

For journeys within the .Greater London area the present 20p maximum fare will be reduced to 12p, except during Monday to Friday morning and evening peak periods and between 3 and 4.30am when special night fares apply. The new maximum will not apply for journeys on routes or sections of routes outside Greater London.

Fares on surburban flat-fare routes anc Red Arrow services will be unchanged.
