• The new £20 fine for using a commercial vehicle in the Royal Parks is less in real terms than the £5 fine it has replaced, when that penalty was first imposed.
In the Commons last week Mr Julian Amery, Minister for Housing and Construction, said that the £5 penalty was introduced on December 15, 1926, and he was advised that this was approximately equivalent to £21 today.
