With a view to meeting the competition to which the municipal transport system is subjected at the hands of private motorbus proprietors in the South Shields district, the corporation tramways committee has prepared a list of conditions which, it is recommended, should be imposedshy the local watch committee in granting licences for bus services. These are as follow :—(a) That all buses shall run to A published time-table and not deviate without authority.. (b) A definite scale of fares charged to be published in the vehicles and no deviation from this scale to be
e22 made without authority. (c) No bus to be allowed to pick up or set down passengers within the borough. (d) Fares to be charged from the town, or any part of the town, to the other side of the borough boundary to be more than the tramway fare from the town to the outlying terminus.
The recommendations are to receive the consideration of the watch committee at an early date.
