Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

There is little question that in many parts of tbe world the British commercial vehicle is competing very successfully with foreign makes, and, in spite of the fact that Celonial conditions of operation are generally recognized as being much more arduous than those which are met in this country, one often hears of prominent British makes which are being operated efficiently and

economically abroad. A typical instance is that of a number of Guy lorries which 4re working successfully jti West Africa.

In the Gold 'Coast, Ashanti. and Northern Territories a native bush path is the forerunner of the lorry road passing over virgin soil, where gravel and stones are unobtainable and graded hills unknown. It was over this class of road that His Excellency the Governor, Sir Frederick Guggisberg,

D.S.O., accompanied by Her Highness Princess Marie Loujse, recently., made a circular tour of Ashanti and the Northern Territories, including a visit to Wagadrigu, the seat of French administration in the West African territory of the Haute Volta.

It is significant that, although express vans ot foreign make'Shave held the market for some years, the lorry used for carrying the luggage and camp equipment for the tour was the Guy 15-cwt. W.D. type,.....Fourteen machines of thist class were used 'and, we are told, gave every satisfaction, the distance covered by each vehicle being 1,250 miles. Incidents during the course of the journey .are graphically depicted in the group of illustrations which appears on this page.
