PETE McDONNELL has been promoted to become rental manager in South Wales for Western BRS. He will be responsible for the lorry and trailer rental products at all South Wales locations. Mr McDonnell joined Western BRS in 1977 as truck rental manager at the Cardiff branch.
Wilkinson Transport has further expanded its sales force with the recruitment of two new field sales managers and a sales executive. Norman Garrett, former national sales manager with Bang and Olufsen, is the new field sales manager in charge of the company's southern area while Mike Higney, who joined from Rank Xerox, assumes a similar position in the northern region. John Taylor has joined the Oxford depot as a sales executive.
Nicholas Walker is the new managing director of Comet International Forwarding, an operator based at Harwich, Essex. Mr Walker was previously the company's administration manager.
Michael Curtis has become the new national chairman of the Institute of Materials Handling. Captain Curtis is cargo systems adviser with the marine division of Ocean Transport and Trading and joined the Ocean GrouF midshipman in 1939.
