MR. J. M. THORNLEY has been appointed Scottish representative of E Boydell and Co., Ltd.
M. STEN MELLGREN, editor of" Lastbilen," Swedish road transport journal, arrives in England on April 20 for a week's visit.
MR. THOMAS BAMFORD, A.M.I.E.E., of Huddersfield, has been appointed deputy transport manager to Barrow-in-Furness Corporation.
MR. H. HATTERSLEY and MR. A. T. PRIDDLE have been nominated to fill two vacancies on the council of the Public Transport Association.
MR. B. P. H. DICKINSON has been appointed private secretary to the Minister of Transport, in place of MR. F. C. HAMPDEN, who has become an assistant secretary.
MR. D. R. LAMB has relinquished his appointment as Director of Transport, Ministry of Food, and has been succeeded by MR. G. H. SEARLE. MR. L. W. PHILLIPS has resigned his position as Controller of Transport and Storage at the Ministry of Food.
MR. W. DONALDSON WRIGHT has been elected chairman of the East Midlands section of the Institute of Transport, in succession to MR. B. ENGLAND. Vice-chairmen are MESSRS.

New appointments for its London depot have been announced by the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., viz., MR. H. A. SIMPSON as tyre representative for the Kent district, in which he succeeds Ma.
D. SPEEDIE, who has taken up an appointment in the Colonies; MR. J. E. UNIONS as representative for the Susses area, and MR. E. Pitefsiock for the Norfolk area.
MR. JAMES C. HARLOW has become area manager at the Bristol office of Hepworth and Grandage, Ltd. MR. JOSHUA HEPWORTH, who for many years was in charge at Bristol, has retired to South Africa. MR. CHARLES N. Amswoierit has joined the company to cover the South Coast replacement trade, and MR. DAVID N. FERGUSON is replacing MR. D. F. Anao-rr in the East
Scottish area.
Ma. G. J. Rii.cutam, chief engineer of the Associated Equipment Co., Ltd., is visiting a number of prominent transport undertakings and manufacturers in the U.S.A During his tour he will be joined by MR. J. O. 13owt,ty, assistant works manager. and MR. R. E. JONES, of the production control department, who left England later. Mr. Rackham is the first of a number of A.E.C. officials who are going abroad. Federation and will take up his full duties on July 1 next. In the meantime, he will work in co-operation with MR. JAMES S. NEAVE, who has been part-time secretary since 1942 and now wishes to relinquish the position, so as to be able to devote more time to his other duties. Mr. Neave will continue as legal adviser, and he will be succeeded as secretary by MR. A. A. E. MORGAN. Major-General Ross was G.O.C., Aldershot and Hants District, until his retirement in October last year.
