Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The GMB union warns that 17 drivers' jobs could be lost when Blue Circle Cement closes two of its plants next May. National officer Allan Black says the plants at Plymstock in Plymouth and Masons in Ipswich are being closed because of high processing costs. Seven drivers are due to be made redundant at Plymouth and 10 at Ipswich, says Black.

However, he says the union will use the time belween now and next May to urge Blue Circle to redeploy the drivers at other sites around the country.

The possible creation of another Blue Circle plant in Kent could also create new driving jobs, he adds.
