Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Insurance premiums for young truck drivers look set for scrutiny at Ireland's new Motor Insurance Advisory Board.

Former Irish Road Haulage Association president Sheila McCabe will represent hauliers next week at the body's first meeting and will argue that young commercial vehicle drivers should be looked at differently from youngsters driving cars to discos. The MIAB has been set up by the Irish Commerce Minister Noe' Treacy to monitor insurance premiums.

McCabe, who runs McCabe Transport at Cootehill, County Cavan, says she will push for lower insurance rates for hauliers: "Hauliers cannot run a business without insurance. But there are problems with young drivers applying who cannot be hired because their insurance is too high or not available."

But Susanne Barron, of Bradstocks Insurance Brokers, says: "The premium a company will quote depends on each individual proposal. But the claims experience for young drivers is quite high and it's not changing."

Treacy wants the insurance companies to share their data on risk factors and charges with the Advisory Board.
