PIKE has taken over the duties of north-eastern divisional marketing service manager, in addition to his similar functions in the northern division. MR. H. EDWARDS has become operations manager of Scottish Oils and Shell-Mex, Ltd.

MR. ROBERT WI-FALLEY, genera] manager of Burnley, Colne and Nelson joint transport undertaking, is to retire at the end of the year. He has been engaged in passenger transport since 1912, and joined the Burnley, Coine and Nelson undertaking in 1933. From 1939-1946 he was the -deputy general manager and succeeded MR. H. BROUGHTON in his present position.

MR. S. M. CUSICK has been appointed assistant district manager of the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., covering the counties of Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln and Rutland. MR. E. COOPER now covers Mr. Cusick's previous territory (Lincoln) as general representative. MR. C. M. S. PARKER takes over Mr. Cooper's territory (identical with Mr. Cusick's) as a service representative, and MR. A. C. MacKAv has become a general representative for south-east London.

FRENCH SEE NEW ROBBER

APARTY of French gear-production experts from the Renault, Simca, Peugeot, Berliet and Panhard concerns visited Manchester last week to see a demonstration of the Hydrax gear hobber at David Brown Machine Tools, Ltd. The bobber is stated to be six times quicker in operation than machines of conventional pattern, and orders to the value of over £250,000 have been received since the model was introduced at the beginning of June,

B.R.S. WANT DEPOT LAND

AREQUEST has been made by British Road Services to purchase land in Preston on which to build a parcels depot to replace that at Bamber Bridge. The planning committee and the Ribble committee of the town are considering the matter.
