Particulars of the Second Parade and Prize Scheme for Good Driving.

The first meeting of the executive committee of the Commercial Motor Users' Association, after the close of the summer vacation, was held last week, at 1, Albemarle Street, W., when the chairman, Colonel R. E. Crompton, C.B., presided over a good attendance. Business in connection with the rules and courtesies of the road, the erection of waterposts by the Metropolitan Water Board, the restrictions upon traffic over Wark Bridge, the Board of Trade regulations for tramcars, and the Mansion Ifouse meeting, was taken, but the time of the meeting was principally occupied in connection with the forthcoming second competition for careful driving. The secretary reported that, following upon the success which attended the

meet and parade of the 14th December last, subsequently to which date the association took over this scheme from the proprietors of "THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR," the conditions for a second meet had been published. It had been contemplated, in June last, that meets should be held both in Manchester and London, but, acting upon local advice, he recommended that no meet be held in Manchester until the year 1909. This was agreed.

In regard to the projected second meet in London, ten entries had already been received, and he now submitted to the executive committee letters which be proposed to issue in regard to the final arrangements. It had, however, been suggested that the London meet might more suitably take place at a later date, and he wished to have that point settled. It was unanimously agreed that the meet be carried out upon the date for which it had been originally announced—the 3rd October. Subscriptions amounting to

were reported, and it was decided. that the actual amount to be disbursed in the form of prizes should be left to the discretion of the judges committee. It was also approved that the viva-voce examination of drivers should take place on Saturday afternoon, the 26th instant, beginning at 3 p.m., at x, Albemarle Street, W., on which occasion a large proportion of the entrants could be put through the necessary cross-questioning, any other arrangements in respect of later entries to be settled at the judges' convenience.
