Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Tony Eyers, the disgraced former managing director of Fewston Transport—the company whose lorry ran out of control killing six peo

ple at Sowerby back in the haulage business. Eyers was banned from being a company director for a year. He is now a director of Bradford-based trailer hire firm Harrogate Contracts. In July he bought refuse carrier Harrogate Waste Management. Three women, two men and a young girl were killed when one of Fewston Transport's lorries went out of control at Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire in September.

Fewston Transport was prosecuted for failing to maintain the vehicle's brakes and fined the maximum £5,000. In December 1995 its 0-licence was revoked. Last month, following a judicial review, Eyers's former transport manager, Eric Preston, was charged with manslaughter in connection with the crash (CM 12-18 September). Fewston Transport is now a dissolved company. Eyers was unavailable for comment
