Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to ‘s-.1 open the door to something which will go through the country like wildfire, or come to a decision which will he contrary to the best interests of the industry" Mr. W. J. Macve, North Western Licensing Authority for Public Service Vehicles, recently refused an application by Messrs. Middleton Towers Holiday Camp, Morecambe, to run their own tours.

The undertaking wished to run 10 coaches as a supplement to 15 supplied by Ribble Motor Services, Ltd. Opposition came from Mr. R. W. Hargrave, representing 21 members of Morecambe and Heysham and District Coach Owners' Association.

For the camp owners, Mr. Backhouse challenged, the legal status of the Coach Owners' Association on the ground that it was not a corporate body, but a collection of objectors.

Mr. N. Stansfield, secretary of the Association and a coach operator, gave an assurance that the general public would not suffer if the local coach owners were given permission to run the tours from the camp. He opposed the application of the camp owners, he said, because he thought they were entirely newcomers to the industry.

Mr. Macve said that there were sufficient facilities in Morecambe to deal with the demand from the camp without granting another licence and it was desired that the work should be equally divided between Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and the local coach operators.
