Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

has been registered as a company limited by guarantee without share capital, the word " limited " being omitted from the title by licence of the Board of Trade. The object is to operate vans for the supply of food and refreshment to persons and communities suffering from enemy action and to war workers, evacuees, etc. The directors are Lord Perry, Lord Addison, and Messrs. H. S. Cooper, hi. L. Gedge and R. P. Slade. Tbe three first-named are members of the council of the Henry Ford Institute of Agricultural Engineering.

THAT CUT IN THE BASIC RATION

ACCORDING to official quarters, and as indicated in our leader of this week, the fuel cut of goods vehicles will not always mean a definite restriction to the new and reduced quantity of fuel available. There may be certain circumstances in which supplementary rations can be issued, but only after it has been definitely ascertained that an operator has done everything possible in the way of pooling to reduce his fuel consumption for any essential work that he is carrying out.

HIRE RATES FOR CLEARING BOMBED AREAS

ENDEAVOURS are being made in the Manchester district to negotiate with certain important municipal authorities an agreed rate for the hire of vehicles needed to clear debris from areas which have sustained damage from enemy bombs. Transport associations have been asked to co-operate with the 'authorities in listing vehicles, which, whilst continuing with their normal work, would be available for this special work, should they be needed.

It is understood that an endeavour is being made to work out a formula whereby carrying capacity will be determined in ratio to the unladen weight of vehicles. Associations concerned in the negotiations are the C.hl.U.A.. A.R.O., the National Association of kurniture Warehousemen and Removers, and Amalgamated Horse and Motor Owners Association.

REORGANIZING BREAD TRANSPORT IN SCOTLAND

ABIG reorganizationtsOf transport has been forced in Scotland, .where the operation of the Government's bread plans was observed', despite the eleventh-hour withdrawal by the Government of the plans involved.

Because bread can no longer be wrapped, as a result ofthe banning to save paper, the huges output of the Glasgow bread factoffes, I which was taken all over Scotlandlay road motors. will now travel largely by rail, As a result of this development and the growing restrictions on the use of petrol, the bread is being transported by rail from the factories, and is then being collected . at local depots by motors and redistributed to retailers within a limited area of these centres There is every prospect that this policy will be extended and developed.
