Notes from Our Correspondent in Paris.

The Touring Club of Milan has decided to organise a competition of motorbuses on the occasion of the next Milan automobile exhibition.

An extraordinary meeting of the Soci&e des Automobile Eugene Brillie —a great part of whose business consists in the manufacture of motorbuses —has been convened for to-day (October 17th) in Paris with the object of voting an increase of capital.

Paris Motorcab Items.

The Societe Genera.le des Compteurs de Voitures (Taximetres) will declare a dividend to-day (October i7th) of 20 francs per share for the financial year just ended, against /5 francs for the preceding year. During 1906-7 a net profit of 1,562,940 francs was made, compared with 561,823 francs in.1905-6, and 221,743 francs in 1904-5. The receipts amounted to 910,237 francs, against 789,443 francs, and another credit item is 967,089 francs for operations in foreign countries.

Mr. Chariot), the well-known French motor manufacturer, writing to the " Temps," says that in the interest of the public safety it would certainly be wisdom in the " powers that be " to enforce the placing of the steering wheel of the motorcab on the left side

of the vehicle. He adds that in the

cabs his firm delivers for the London streets the steering wheels are all on the right, the traffic in the Metropolis moving on the left; and that, as traffic in Paris circulates on the right side of the road, the steering wheel should naturally be placed on the left. If this were done, his experience was that considerably fewer accidents would happen, M. Charron also asks why, as in the case of horse cabs, motorcabs should not be furnished with footwarmers for the comfort of -the passengers, especially as the faster a vehicle goes the colder it is for the occupants.

Part of the programme of the automobile conference to be held during the Paris Salon, for the purpose of collecting data on the employment of denatured alcohol in motor vehicles, is to go into the practicability of the use of this fuel in motorcabs.
