Alan Spillett, one of Britain’s best
painters of trucking scenes, has released a new 160-page hardback book of his pictures.
Roadscapes II, which features
180 images, is accompanied by full captions describing the context of the pictures.
Alan portrays lorries from the 60s, 70s and 80s, when he was a long-distance driver, as well as more recent trucks. His paintings are set in exact locations, capturing the full experience of many drivers, like a Volvo easing its way along a Scottish lochside on a summer’s day or an ERF setting out on a wet early morning
from a factory in Kent. The paintings in Road scapes II have not been published in book form
before, and many have been prepared specially for this new book.
