Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE ARTICLE regarding the M25 (CM 27 October) was fascinating. I lived in Cheshunt in the 1970s/80s, and watched the Herts/ Essex section being built and opened in stages. However, fact number ive is slightly inaccurate.

The Holmesdale Tunnel passes beneath High Road Waltham Cross and takes its name from the thoroughfare adjacent to the southern side of the motorway.

There is no geographical reason for this tunnel. It was only built to reduce noise pollution for residents in Holmesdale.

The tunnel under Epping For esters Cricket Pitch is called Bell Common Tunnel.
