Jason Berry, trading as J Berry Scaffolding, of Chaldon Road, Caterham. had been found guilty in his absence by the Bromley magistrates of using a goods vehicle without an 0-licence, driving on a road without the correct licence and using a vehicle without insurance.

The case was adjourned for sentencing hut Berry again failed to appear.

Prosecuting for VOSA,Anthony Ostrin said Berry was a sole trader.

He was driving a 7.5-tonner loaded with scaffolding which was stopped in a roadside check. No 0-licence identity disc was being displayed. Enquiries revealed that Berry did not hold an 0-licence and his driving licence did not extend to Cl entitlement. Berry also failed to provide evidence that he was insured.

As well as fining Berry £3,500 with £600 prosecution costs, the magistrates disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
