Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE value of commercial 'vehicles, ears, -chassis and accessories imported during the month of October, 1933, was £190,824, the figures for 1931 and 1932 being £319,343 and £147,821 respectively. The increase is mainly due to imports of private cars, although there was an increase in commercial chassis to 120, valued at £15,267, as against 19, valued at £5.982, in October, 1932. It may be noted in this connection that the value of commercial chassis imported in October last is over one-third of tha total commercial-chassis imports for the 10 months ended October last.

The exports of complete commercial vehicles again show a considerable improvement, the number in October being 180, as contrasted with 43 a year earlier, and the valtu,• £42,176, as against £25,784. India is, once more, chiefly responsible for the improvement.

Chassis exports make an excellent showing, the October figure being 1,745, valued at £192,234, the comparable figures for 1932 being 1,384 and 1140,206, and for 1931 426 and £75,486.

It is of interest to divide these ex

ports into "commercial chassis" and "other chassis" and, in this respect, 859 commercial chassis (£113,701) were exported in October, 1933, as contrasted with 616 (£79,515) in October, 1932. There was an improvement in the exports of heavy chassis during October. It is interesting to note that, for the 10 months ended October, exports of light chassis rose from £303,235 in 1931 to £846,695 in 1933, whilst exports of heavy chassis in the same period have risen from 1582,418 to no more than £590,197.
