Owing to the potential output this engine a waste-gate sysm has been fitted to the inlet side which limits the maximum boost pressure to 41/2 psi
Performance comparisons between a standard Land-Rover and a unit turbocharged by Opico showed a considerable advantage in top gear, according to Opico.
"Figures achieved showed that the unit out-performs the Range-Rover in top gear between 20 and 60 mph," said an Opico spokesman. Moreover they claim there was no increase in fuel consumption.
The kit takes about a day and a half to two days to fit and the retail price of the complete kit suitable for the short-wheel base Land-Rover is £1,675 . . for the long-wheel base £1,695.
