RYDER Truck Rental, the British subsidiary of Ryder System Inc, of America, was operating 1,050 vehicles at the end of 1973. According to the company's annual report, 80 per cent of the Ryder's British fleet is under lease contract and fully operational.
The American company helped to overcome its fuel problems during the year by purchasing a number of fuel terminals. In February of this year, it acquired the Toro Petroleum Company of Houston. Texas, which produces 14,000 barrels of fuel daily. In addition it is constructing another refinery which will produce more than twice that amount.
