P Chester Corporation Transport has 'laced an order with Guy Motors Ltd., Wolverhampton, for six Guy Arab V doubleleek buses. The chassis will have a wheel3ase of 1811 6in. and will be fitted with 30ft ny 8ft forward entrance bodywork by Massey Bros. (Northern Counties group), seating 73 passengers.
The buses will be powered by Gardner 5LW 8.4-litre 112 bhp engines and the transmission will be by Guy four-speed constant mesh gearboxes. In its latest form the Arab chassis is some 2fin. lower than its predecessors, and this permits the fitting of only two low steps when forward entrance bodywork is specified.
Due to the constricted nature of most of the routes in and around Chester, the municipal transport undertaking requires a minimal front overhang on its buses and the Guy Arab V suits Chester's requirements admirably. The undertaking already has an almost 100 per cent Guy fleet.
