Last week the Bradford transport committee recommended the appointment of Mr. Man Gurley as rolling-stock engineer to the Bradford Corpn. Transport Dept. Mr. Gurley, who is 33, has been rolling-stock engineer with the Aberdeen Corpn. Transport Dept. since December, 1959. He is recommended to replace Mr. K. E. Griffiths, who is to take up an appointment at Ashton-underLyne.

At the annual general meeting of the Electric Vehicle Association of Great Britain Ltd.. held on May 2, Sir Wave!! Wakefield, M.P., was elected president, Mr. J. A. Lowe, chairman and Mr. N. J. Smith, vice-chairman.

e26 Mr. T. J. Barnes is the new secretary of the Western Division of the Traders Road Transport Association. He succeeds Mr. Arthur G. Akers, who is retiring, Mr. Barnes has been serving as assistant secretary for some months and is_already known to many members of the Division. His office is at Brunei House, St. Georges Road, Bristol, 1.

Mr. P. I. Welding has been appointed operational research officer of London Transport. At the annual elections of the Devon and Cornwall Division of the T.R.T.A., Mr. E. M. Shaw was re-elected as chairman and Mr. AA. J. Watson as a vicechairman. Mr. W. V. Jenkins was elected as a vice-chairman.

Mr. Frank Inglis, who originally started his career with India Tyres Ltd., Inchinnan, in July, 1928, has recently rejoined the company as technical manager.

Mr. A. J. Borten, joint managing director of Halls (Finchley) Ltd., a subsidiary of Seddon Diesel Vehicles Ltd., has been appointed a director of the parent company, and Sir Stanley Bell has retired from the Seddon board.

Obituary xylE regret to record the death of Mr. 1'v A. C. Carding.

Mr. Carding, who for many years carried on a local bus service, died at the age of 81 at his home in Bedford. In 1929 he went into partnership with his son, Mr. R. A. Carding, in the Wonder Bus Company running between Bedford and Kempston, and in 1932 he and his son took over the business at Elstow (Beds) of Ideal Coaches. '
