Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN attractive conversion is now being offered by Pullmore Sixwheelers, Ltd., 200-220, Cricklewood Broadway, London, N.W.2. It comprises a Fordson 118-in.-wheelbase forward-control chassis—the model introduced at the Ford• Motor Exhibition M October last—with a longer wheelbase and frame.

Two types are available; one has a Length between wheel

centres of 143 ins., and a body space of 14 ft. 6 ins., whilst the other has a wheelbase of 157 ins, and a body space of 16 ft. The example shown in the accompanying illustrations is the former, and the power unit installed in this chassis is the eight-cylindered engine.

The conversion is carried out by riveting, to the original frame longitudinals, lengths of 71-in. by 3-in. by 1-in, steel channel, which extend forwards to the cross-member that previously carried the propeller-shaft centre bearing and overlap the existing main members by approximately 6 ft. Two new cross-members are also fitted, and the propeller shaft, incorporating a new universal joint, is lengthened, the centre bearing being remounted in a more rearward position. The incidental modifications required include the substitution of longer brake rods and speedometer cable for those originally used.

Weighing in its lengthened form approximately 33 cwt., the Pullmore extension is extremely sturdy, and converts the popular Fordson, that forms its basis, into a clia, ssis that should appeal strongly to operators whose requirements call for ample space between the back of the cab and the rear of the frame.
