Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ROADLINE UK has imposed a 3.2 workforce following the breakdow port and General Workers Union.

The company, which is part of the National Freight Consortium's troubled parcels group, has incited the wrath of the TGWU by sending personal letters to all of its employees informing them that the 3.25 per cent final offer is being paid, backdated to January 1.

The letters, signed by parcels group managing director Steve Abel, say the increase is a reasonable one and should be viewed along with last year's eight per cent increase which was above the national average for road haulage.

The company, which was unable to give details of basic wage rates, said this week that it was keen to implement an increase before the end of the current tax 5 per cent wage increase on its n of negotiations with the Trans year. TGWU members had already rejected the offer.

Roadline has also increased premium payments for unsocial hours, and Saturday work previously paid for at the basic ate now qualifies for time-anda-half payment.

TGWU officers are telling their members to treat the imposed ncrease as an attempt to change he terms and conditions of their employment, and want them to write back to Mr Abel requesting hat the 3.25 per increase should not be paid to them.

Basic pay for driving a 32.5 tonne trunk lorry is £102,05 at present, while most collection and delivery drivers are on a £97.26 basic rate.
