A number of 7.5-tonne box vans with tail-lifts went under the hammer with 1997-plated Daf 45.130s fetching around £2200£2,500 (ex-VAT): 1998-plated equivalents went for more than £3,200 (ex-VAT).

Daf 75 and 85 tractors with 300, 340, and 380hp engines went for £3,500 (ex-VAT) and above. The Royal Mail vehicles all came with a service history, MoT and certified mileage.They

included some purpose-built Iveco Daily 65C15 6.5-tonne panel vans; a January 2002 51-plated example with an MoT till February 2005 sold for £6,300 (ex-VAT).

Mixed in with the ex-Royal Mail trucks were several Bedford Marshall 6x2 Norba-bodied refuse trucks and a number of 6x4 tippers with Atlas cranes from construction companies. Up-market tipper

One tipper that caught the eye was an 8x4 Scania P124.420 with a high-sided aluminium body and Easy Sheet kit. Plated April 2001 with an MoT that runs until March 2005, it attracted some brisk bidding and a price of £40,000 (ex-VAT). Tippers were certainly in demand: a P-reg 1997 Foden S108 also went under the hammer, and

a six-year-old Daf 45.130 steelbodied tipper and dropside body with 60,000km on the clock sold for £7,200 (ex-VAT). There was a good mix of 7.5-tonne Iveco 75E15 Cargo curtainsiders going through on 2001 plates. One, fitted with a 20ft box, covered by an MoT

Bidding on a six-month-old 53-registered Iveco 75E17 Tector curtainsider with a Ratcliff tail-lift failed to reach the reserve price. A distribution company bidder dug deep to capture a 1999 T-plated Mercedes Benz 1823 Atego curtainsider; he happily

paid £11,600 (ex-VAT) —2,000 over recommended book price. A March 1999 T-reg MAN L2000 8.163 dropwell box van, with an MOT until the end of the year, went for £5,350 (ex-VAT). Export markets continue to prosper with MAN two and three-axle F2000 tractors fetching more than expected and heading to East European markets. •
