WEST Midlands Passenger Transport Executive is applying to the Traffic Commissioners for an average 30 per cent increase in single fares and a 25 per cent increase of "Travelcard" fares.
If the increase gains the Commissioner's approval, it will be the PTE's third fares increase in three years.
It is hoped to raise revenue by about £5.3 million in 1977/78 which will allow a reduction at the Executive's Substantial fares subsidy of about £3 million.
The proposed increase has been approved by the West Midlands County Council and is expected to be heard by the Commissioners on July 26.
