PRODUCTIVITY in the Mersey Docks will improve when new supervisors at present being trained, take up their duties, according to a report from the traffic liaison committee and submitted to the Merseyside Chamber of Commerce and the Industry's Surface Transport Committee.
It was reported there had been many complaints over poor productivity in the port due to insufficient labour and many delays at the container terminal.
Hauliers still maintained that lorry bookings could not be made after about 3.00 pm, but the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board continually refuted these allegations.
